about

Empowering Women

Visionary Women, in partnership with the Hostetler/Wrigley Foundation, created the Visionary Prizes to recognize women nonprofit leaders who advance economic empowerment for women.  Winners are awarded unrestricted funds to support their agency’s work and enable them to further their vision.

The Visionary Prize was launched in 2022 to recognize outstanding women leaders of nonprofit organizations dedicated to advancing women’s economic empowerment in the United States. Since then, we have awarded eight leaders with unrestricted funds to support their work and help them expand their vision.

Prize Criteria:

  • Providing access to capital
  • Providing access to non-monetary resources that support economic advancement
(e.g., mentoring, training, personal professional development, or technical business
    support) and/or
  • Removing barriers to allow women to fully participate and succeed in the workforce

Requirements for Qualification:

The Visionary Prize ($100,000 award) will recognize a visionary woman leader of an established nonprofit organization that has been in operation for at least 4 years, has an annual budget over $500,000, operates in the U.S., and demonstrably advances the economic empowerment of women.

The Rising Visionary Award ($15,000 award) will recognize a visionary woman leader of an innovative early-stage nonprofit organization that has been in operation between 12 months and 4 years, has an annual budget under $500,000, operates in the U.S. and demonstrably advances the economic empowerment of women.

The Visionary Catalyst Award ($15,000 award) will recognize a visionary woman leader of a nonprofit organization that has been in operation for at least 4 years, has an annual budget over $500,000, operates in the U.S., and provides resources to address the inequity in financial and non-monetary support available to women entrepreneurs.

We are now accepting applications for the 2025 prizes until January 10, 2025.
