Visionary Women in partnership with the Hostetler/Wrigley Foundation founded the Visionary Prize for Women’s Economic Empowerment in 2022 in order to recognize a visionary woman leader of a nonprofit agency whose mission is to advance women’s economic empowerment in the United States. Visionary Prize winners receive $100,000 in unrestricted funds to support their agency’s work and enable them to further their vision.

Winners of the Visionary Prize must be leaders of an organization that has been in operation at least 4 years, has an annual budget of $500,000 or more, and demonstrably advances the economic empowerment of women through:

• Providing access to capital
• Providing access to non-monetary resources that support economic advancement
  (e.g., mentoring, training, personal professional development, or technical business
  support) and/or
• Removing barriers to allow women to fully participate and succeed in the workforce

In 2023, a new award, the $15,000 Rising Visionary Award, was created to recognize a visionary woman leader of an innovative early-stage nonprofit organization which has been in operation between 12 months and 4 years.

In 2024, another award, the $15,000 Visionary Catalyst Award, will be added to recognize a visionary woman leader of a nonprofit organization that provides resources to address the inequity in both financial and non-monetary support available to women entrepreneurs.

Winners of the 2024 Visionary Prize for Women’s Economic Empowerment, Rising Visionary Award, and Visionary Catalyst Award will be recognized at the 3rd Annual Visionary Women’s International Women’s Day celebration on March 6 in Los Angeles.

Applications for the 2024 prizes are closed. Applications for the 2025 prizes will be available through Visionary Women’s website beginning August 15, 2024.
