Visionary Women supports nonprofit organizations and initiatives that advance the status of women and girls in the Greater LA area.
Our Grant Process
Visionary Women’s grant process includes two steps. First, organizations submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) to confirm eligibility. Selected applicants are then invited to complete a full application for funding consideration.

the Arts
Support participation and advancement in the arts for women and girls, including visual arts, theatre, dance, music, film and literature.
Support institutions that amplify the voices of women artists and gallerists, curators, performing artists, filmmakers and writers.
Support exhibitions that amplify women/girls and their accomplishments.
Women +
Education
Support initiatives which improve academic outcomes for girls K-12.
Support access to college and other post-secondary programming that improves academic outcomes and/or increases the number of women who receive degrees, diplomas, certifications, and licensure.
Women +
Economic Empowerment
Support female entrepreneurs from communities that have been under-resourced by traditional funding sources.
Support initiatives that offer education and/or up-skilling training to achieve career mobility opportunities for women.
Support programs that remove barriers to women’s full participation and success in the workforce.
Support initiatives that advance workplace policies that allow women to thrive and participate fully in the economy.

Social Services
Support programming that provides real-time solutions, training, and advocacy for women and girls who are experiencing housing insecurity, food insecurity, and gender-based violence.
Support programming that provides mental health wellness for young girls, teenagers, and women.
Support programming that abates the environmental consequences of climate change on women, particularly indigenous women, and low-income communities.
eligibility
Eligibility criteria
- The organization to be funded has 501(c)(3) status.
- The organization has been operational for at least three years and has annual revenues of $500,000 or more.
- The organization or program to be funded operates in the greater Los Angeles area.
- The organization or program serves a population that is at least 75% women/girls, or who identify as women/girls.
- The program to be funded is non-sectarian.
- The organization or program to be funded is consistent with and furthers the mission of Visionary Women.
- The proposed grant supports a specific program or initiative focused on at least one of Visionary Women grants funding areas of focus. (see above)
- No organization may receive more than one grant in a calendar year.
- If an organization has been funded for 3 consecutive years, they are ineligible to apply for a period of 2 years following the end of the last grant period.
